The ITW Mima Packaging Systems test centre:
  • is a specialised laboratory for optimising pallet wrapping
  • receives pallets from customers for analysis, to determine:

    • technical information
    • product specifics
    • type of storage used (indoors or outdoors)
    • loading, shipping (characteristics of the routes used, distances involved)
    • quantity and quality of the films used
    • barcode locations
    • ...

Test sequence:

  1. Pallets packed by the customer are subjected to resistance tests on various devices:

    • three dimensional vibrating table (to simulate transport)
    • crash-test (collapse, calculating the elasticity effect on the load, etc.)
    • sealing check (shower, resistance to moisture, etc.)
    • sensor equipped frame (measuring the forces applied by the film on the load, etc.)

  1. The same tests are then performed during a second stage using the solution put forward by ITW Mima Packaging Systems.

  2. The results are compared and a report (packaging parameters, stability test videos…) is burnt onto a CD-Rom and sent to the customer.
    • On the basis of all of the parameters collected and the laboratory results, an optimum solution together with cost reductions is proposed in the form of a complete package
Audit performed at the customer’s facility.
  • A team of experts is tasked with analysing the customer’s pallets.
  • The analysis covers products, expectations and constraints
  • The results collected are used to determine the optimum solution
